get to know me!

I have been working with computers since the tender age of 4, which doesn’t seem that special in a time when one can buy a keyboard and mouse ergonomically designed for 2 years olds, but back in the ’80s, when you had to insert two giant disks just to make an application run, it was a big deal. Plus, I can say I have over 25 years of computing experience! Not bad for a thirtysomething.

I first started making graphics on my computer when I was in high school. I began creating basic websites and flyers for friends. When I wasn’t learning photoshop I was teaching myself how to sew and later how to knit. In college, I LOVED making my own clothes, and decided to take a pattern drafting class to learn how to make my own patterns. I became obsessed with clothing design at that point and quickly immersed myself full time in the fashion program.

As soon as I started working in the fashion industry, I knew I could put my digital skills to work. I spent a couple years working at Johnny Was as an assistant designer, learning the ins and outs of the garment industry. From Johnny Was, I went to work as a graphic designer at And Cake, Inc., where I fully discovered the potential for graphic design in the industry, and I haven’t looked back since. Besides doing a ton of t-shirt designs, I’ve created logos, look books, business cards, hang tags, and post cards. I’ve even collaborated with my husband on some web projects, including the site you are looking at right now!

When I’m not at the computer, I’m exploring the wide world of crafting. I still love to knit, but I’ve expanded into crochet and embroidery. I’ve tinkered with glass etching, decoupage and screen printing. I always get excited when I find a new medium to interpret into my love for graphic design. It is the basis for all my crafty creations.
